Desert Journey – Day 23
I have never lived anywhere desert-like. I am an East Coast girl through and through. They say sandstorms come out of nowhere, completely unexpected. I wonder if Jesus faced any sandstorms while he was in the desert.
Years ago, my family visited the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It is known for being windy, but on one particular day, the winds picked up with such a force, we could not remain on the beach. I had never experienced anything like this before. As I looked down the shoreline, all I could see was sand swirling around in the air. The grains of sand pelted against our skin with a stinging effect. We quickly left the beach.
There appears to be a sandstorm in the distance. I can feel the peripheral effects of the wind and blowing sand. Walking with Jesus gives me a feeling of safety. I can see the storm in the distance, however, I am not worried.
The vastness of the desert provides clear vision. You can see for miles without much obstruction. Deserts and mountains do that, offer clarity of vision. Removing ourselves from the midst of a situation helps to see it differently.
Jesus, I am not sure what this is all about. He replies, storms are unavoidable. Some storms you will walk through, some will remain at a distance and others will require shelter. Sufficient grace is given for each.
Most importantly, his grace is enough to walk through what lies ahead.
You are receiving such powerful insight during this journey! I am grateful you are sharing it. I need to write this down:
Storms are unavoidable. Some storms you will walk through, some will remain at a distance and others will require shelter. Sufficient grace is given for each.
What an important promise to internalize and remember.
Agreed. So I can pull it out as I feel one coming on and ask Him, “what kind?” so I can better prepare my heart & mind~
This could have not been more timely. I feel that I’m about or have entered a storm but being with Him I already much safer and regardless of the outcome, I’m OK
NC girl, here, who has experienced those Outer Banks winds. Shew, there’s a reason the Wright brothers tested their plane out there! Ha ha! Flying aside, this is a lovely post on what life is like. Thanks for today’s reminder!
