Desert Journey – Day 9
Contemplating love this morning. The presence of love, the experience of love, the receptivity of love and the acceptance of love. These just came to mind.
Jesus and I walk towards a high point in the desert. It’s not easy climbing with sand underfoot. It’s thick and doesn’t offer great traction. We make it to the top. The view, my initial thought, more of the same. As far as I can see, sand. The word constancy comes to mind. The quality of being constant, faithful, dependable, enduring and unchanging.
Jesus, my brain is feeling a little sluggish this morning. I am not putting all this together. He sits in the sand. I follow. I’ve never been a fan of sand. Don’t like the grit much. The song “Extravagant,” by Bethel Music comes to mind. Another song I have been listening to the last couple of days.
It’s extravagant, it doesn’t make sense
We’ll never comprehend, the way You love us
It’s unthinkable, only heaven knows
Just how far You’d go, to say You love us
Maybe my brain is trying to comprehend something that is intended for my heart. Perhaps, no understanding is actually necessary. Jesus and I look out across the desert. It is peaceful. He says, “take it in.” It is expansive, never ending, constant, everywhere.
I’m thinking back to presence, experience, receptivity and acceptance. A process maybe, one that is on repeat; one we cycle through over and over, and as we grow in deeper relationship with the Lord, love becomes more extravagant. I will sit with this today…
How interesting – my word yesterday was abundant. So similar. It is one of my favorite adjectives when I think of God and love.
I also hate sand, though I love the act of refinement. Scrubbing, exfoliating, smoothing, perfecting.
Very beautiful Leslie! I experienced the journey with you.
I can’t wrap my mind around the depths of His Love. There is just no way! I love that HE is so big that we can run hard after Him all our days and never fully grasp the incredible immensity of HIM!! ❤
Love it! Also love Bethel Music and that song. 🙂 Keep it up
