Hope and a Little Rain
The rain had started and for some reason, I went for a walk anyway. A little rain never hurt anyone. Sadie, my Husky mix, didn’t think it was my best idea, but she humored me and came along, was dragged along is probably more accurate. She prefers the comfy chair on the porch most days. She’s 13 and certainly deserves to lounge on her perch. The only folks out were landscapers and home delivery trucks (they all waved, by the way). I noticed one thing during my walk: pollen is always washed away by the rain. I know, a ground-breaking revelation.
The pollen has covered everything this spring. The fact is, we are covered in pollen every spring. Every little thing takes on a yellow hue – the roof tops, the cars, the sidewalks and driveways, even the dog has turned a shade of yellow. The pollen is thick like a blanket. Nothing escapes the spring pollen.
It feels much like our current situation. Evidence of the Covid-19 virus is everywhere. We are all impacted and can’t seem to escape its effect. A simple walk with my dog, while observing the world around me, is a reminder that we are in a season of something very different, uncomfortable and unsettling.
But those who hope…
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:31
And hope…
And hope does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Romans 5:5
A little rain
Just when I think I can’t stand the gritty, almost suffocating pollen particles anymore, the skies open and the droplets fall. The gentle rain collides with the yellow and they slowly blend. Descending streams from rooftops and sidewalks make their way down the street, and in a short time, the evidence of the pollen is a distant memory. The cleansing waters wash away the residue, restore my perspective and usher in a brighter landscape.
I will always hope for a little rain.
Thank you, Leslie for your soothing, poetic words. Thank you for Isaiah and Romans.
I will place these two scriptures on my phone for daily pop up reminders.
I needed to be comforted today. I thank you for sharing your thoughts and words on hope.
Love you, Camille!
Thank you Leslie
You are so open to God’s words and you let them flow through you to us, His beloved children. You have the gift of a word of knowledge, prophecy. This encouragement is much needed today for me and I suspect many others. Beautiful verses reveal God’s love and Hope in all His promises. Praying that we all come out of this time, this season stronger in our love and faith of God. Let the rain wash away our iniquities by the grace of the true Living Water.
In God’s love
